A Solcan solar water heating system ties into the existing hot water tank to preheat the domestic hot water used for washing dishes, clothes and baths. The solar collectors are installed on a roof facing south. Two pipes are connected to the panels: one carries hot fluid to the hot water tank, the other carries cool fluid to the collectors to gain more energy. A circulator activated by the sun keeps the fluid moving.
